Successful Smile Makeovers with New Jersey Cosmetic Dentist

Dr. Joel Singer, a cosmetic dentist in New Jersey, says the growing popularity of reality TV shows and the direct-to-consumer marketing of teeth whitening has increased awareness about comprehensive smile makeovers – a combination of teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and other cosmetic procedures. According to a recent statistic by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), teeth whitening procedures have increased by over 300% in the past five years and porcelain veneers by over 200%. Dr. Singer says that with the growth in popularity of smile makeovers, choosing the right cosmetic dentist is crucial for receiving the proper care and best results for procedures including porcelain veneers in New Jersey.

According to a recent study by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), cosmetic dental procedures have increased substantially over the past five years. Teeth whitening has grown over 300% since 2006, while porcelain veneers have increased by 200% and direct bonding by 100%. Cosmetic dentist Dr. Joel Singer says that patients looking for cosmetic dentistry in New Jersey should place significant importance on selecting the right practice for their smile makeover to ensure they get the best results. He adds that finding a cosmetic dentist with extensive and focused experience is essential to receiving quality treatment.

Another similar study recently produced by the AACD reports that 99.7% of Americans believe a person’s smile is an important social asset, with 74% stating an unattractive smile can hurt a person’s chance for career success. With such an importance being placed on the cosmetic appearance of one’s teeth, Dr. Singer says that a smile makeover can offer patients renewed self-confidence and a more positive outlook on life. By combining several cosmetic procedures, he says patients can achieve a redesigned smile that they are proud to show off.

For patients considering porcelain veneers or teeth whitening in New Jersey, Dr. Singer recommends seeking dental professionals active in the dental community and dedicated to continued education. Active and consistent engagement, he says, ensures that cosmetic dentists stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technology in the field. Dr. Singer adds that choosing a dentist who is in constant pursuit of the latest in dental education is one of the most important things patients can look for.

Sedation Dentistry Helps Alleviate Patient Anxiety at Fort Lee, NJ Dental Practice

Cosmetic Dentist in New Jersey on Sedation Dentistry

The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) recently released a study showing 30% of Americans avoid the dentist because of fear or anxiety. Dr. Joel Singer says he uses sedation dentistry at this New Jersey dental practice to not only calm patient fears, but also begin to forge a stronger relationship with patients that may have had negative dental experiences in the past.

According to a recent study conducted by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), 30% of Americans avoid dental visits because of fear or anxiety. Dr. Joel Singer provides a wide range of dental treatments, including general, cosmetic, and sedation dentistry in New Jersey. He says experiencing anxiety before any type of health-related office visit is common for many patients; however, he adds that the anxiety for some patients can reach an uncomfortable and stressful degree, which is why he offers patients the choice of several levels of sedation at his New Jersey dentistry practice.

Dr. Singer says sedation dentistry is also commonly referred to as sleep dentistry, though patients are never fully anesthetized or unconscious. He says patients merely reach a relaxed state, allowing them to remain unaware of the treatment. Whether he is replacing crowns or dentures, or fixing stained and chipped teeth, Dr. Singer says he is able to accomplish more work in each appointment when using sedation dentistry, thereby reducing the number of office visits required for a number of comprehensive procedures.

At his New Jersey dental practice, Dr. Singer says he most often uses oral sedation dentistry, which requires patients to take a small pill prior to treatment, and then allows them to remain comfortable throughout the entire procedure. The oral sedation method also means no needles are required, which Dr. Singer says further alleviates any anxiety or fear his patients may experience. “Many times, phobic patients might not get the dental treatment until something hurts or breaks, which is why we don’t start any treatment until the patient is really comfortable.”

Happy Holidays!!

Posted by DrSinger | Filed under

Dear Valued Friends and Patients,

Today there was a chill in the air that reminds us that winter is fast approaching and with it another Holiday Season. At this time each year I take time to reflect on the many things I’m thankful for.

In the absence of misfortune, it is easy to take for granted the things that really matter, such as friends and family, and our health. My family has always been the center of my world. This year especially, I am reminded of how special and invaluable you all are. With many changes coming for my entire family I know that we will always be connected in a special way.

Tiffany, Laurie, Maureen and Sasha are my family at the office. Each contributes a unique quality to our office. We truly enjoy each other’s company and strive to create a happy environment for our patients. We consider our patients our friends and we truly enjoy working with you. We are honored that you have chosen us for your dental health needs.

This coming year I choose to acknowledge the gift of health. I hope to inspire my family, friends and patients to make healthier choices.

From my family, my team and myself I would like to say “Thank You” and to wish you and your family an abundantly happy, healthy and prosperous 2012.

“Soft” Drinks Can Be Hard on Teeth!

Posted by DrSinger | Filed under

From a dental point of view, there’s nothing “soft” about so-called “soft drinks.” Many people recognize this‚ assume that it has to do with the sugar content of soft drinks‚ and figure that “diet” cola will save them from cavities. Unfortunately, both popular notions are inaccurate.

Sugar does not directly damage teeth. That happens when certain bacteria in the mouth release acids that eat into tooth enamel. These bacteria, however, need food to survive. Refined sugar is a very potent source. What you eat, they eat. If not eliminated promptly, they hang around to do their dirty work.

The real culprit in carbonated soft drinks is the “fizz” itself: carbonic acid. A sugary, uncarbonated drink like Kool-Aid is actually easier on teeth than, say, Diet Pepsi.

Does this mean you have to eliminate soft drinks entirely? Of course not. But keep an eye on how much and how often you drink. After drinking, if the residue remains in contact with your teeth for long periods of time, you’re setting up an environment that could lead to trouble.
